Painting Flowers with Watercolors

I’ve always loved flowers. I haven’t kept up with my garden the way I should, but I still enjoy every bloom. I have tried over the years to capture some of my favorites with paint, but have never quite gotten the look I was hoping for. Being a gluten fro punishment, I gave it another go today. I think I came closer than I ever have before with this painting of the yellow flag irises that grow in my fish pond.. Here is my first flower painting in about 5 years:
