Abstract Pastel Drawings of Dogs 26:365
Day 26 of my one a day resolution: I found my old pastels behind some spray cans of fixative and decided to have some fun today. Since we are dog sitting this weekend, we are staying home and hanging out with our four-footed friend (who is currently napping). He is the subject of my first drawing of the day, “What Up White Dog?”. Since he is such a fun subject, I gave him a fun, colorful treatment!
I also gave a fun, semi-abstract treatment to a drawing of my parents’ new dog, Stanley. He’s much more willowy than the white dog, so he got a somewhat more elegant treatment.
Portrait of My New Friend the Pit Bull 20:365
Day 20 of my one a day resolution: Friends adopted this beautiful pit bull a few months ago. I finally got the chance to meet her this weekend…what a sweet girl! Time at the shelter had caused her to be a bit under weight and withdrawn, but time in a loving family has allowed her to blossom into a friendly, wonderful dog. A little love can give a shelter dog a new leash on life!
Look at the Ears on That Dog! 10:365
Day ten of my one a day resolution: Meet Joker! This drawing does not do him justice. He is some sort of Pitty mix and absolutely beyond sweet. When I met him today he couldn’t stop wagging and giving kisses. This drawing makes him look a bit like a Chihuahua, but he is actually the size of a big pit bull. And oh…those ears! They are HUGE!!!
Today’s a Two-fer of Rescue Dog Drawings 9:365
Day nine of my one a day resolution: Tonight was swimming lessons night, so I sat in the waiting area sketching photos from my phone. The first pup I found is a Pit Bull. She’s a guest at Lehigh County Humane Society in Allentown, PA. Her name is Cupcake and she looks like a sweety. I hope I did her cute little face justice.
Next, I pulled up a MaPaw pup. Diesel is the cover dog on this year’s MaPaw calendar. He is absolutely gorgeous and a stunning example of a Siberian husky.
I’m In Love!
I bought a palette knife the other day. I didn’t really have anything in mind when I bought it, but thought it might be fun to fiddle with. I LOVE it!!! I wasn’t happy with the direction my first Shelter Me painting was going so I decided to give the palette knife a try. What fun! I love the texture and the way you can ALMOST control the paint, but not quite. I can’t wait to try it on a figure painting….think I know how I’m spending my weekend!
